Chainsaw Carving

Experience the timeless beauty of these individually hand-carved sculptures which are crafted at many of the shows this year. Carvings are available to buy and if you do, they create a lasting impression in your home, conservatory or garden.

Each piece is carved from reclaimed timber from a number of sustainable sources throughout England. The wood is hand selected from sawmills, salvage, tree surgery and garden clearance specialists for its character, colour and suitability for carving.

This year a new type of chainsaw carving has been introduced to run along side the more familiar carvers. In the Sculpture & Chainsaw Art Studio, carvers skilfully shape the wood by following the natural form & grain, to create unique art forms.

Ian Freemantle & invited guest artists are demonstrating this wonderful art at this year’s Living Heritage Shows.

The Artist's Studio has a selected level of art on display for inspiration & to buy. Also by popular demand, the speed carve event is held twice a day. The carvers create a sculpture within 20 minutes, which is then auctioned off to the gathered crowd.

As a treat, on special occasions, English folk music & traditional clog dancers are appearing on stage to help wind away the summer days.

The 8th English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition The 8th English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition

The 8th English Open Chainsaw Competition is taking place at the Cheshire Game & Country Fair on the late August Bank Holiday weekend in 2012 and is the only one of its kind in this country.

The competition hosts around 35 of the world's top chainsaw carvers. They come from Japan, USA, Australia, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Russia, Uganda and the UK.

Witness the speed carve in the speed carving arena, as they carve against the clock.

Carvings are sold at auction on the final day of each event. Carvings are ideal as a garden centre piece or corporate symbol. After the success of last year's carving events and auctions, visitors can look forward to another season of thrilling events in 2012.
