Craft Village

Throw a pot, make a face and have some fun!

The Craft Village is an extremely popular section of the show; it’s a craft fair within the framework of the main show.

Regularly attracting 30 or 40 artists & craftsmen who exhibit & demonstrate & sell their crafts to visitors.

 

A specialist demonstration area has been included and shows working glassblowers, Blacksmiths, chainsaw carvers, and coppice craftsmen. A children’s Make & Take Workshop is generally included too, so that youngsters can experience some of the crafts on display.

 

 

 

 

Glass Blower Glass Blower

The bubbles bursting! Glass blowing bubbles and shapes come to life in an entertaining way.

Ed and Margaret Burke created E+M Glass in the mid 1980’s. They have been designing and making unique works of art for the table from their studio on the Welsh and English borders since 1988. They attend all of Living Heritage events demonstrating their Skills.

The Blacksmiths Guild was originally founded in the 60's as a result of a number of west country blacksmiths holding an exhibition at the builders centre in London

Cross-stitch is one of the oldest forms of embroidery and can be found all over the world. Many folk museums show examples of clothing decorated with cross-stitch, especially from continental Europe and Asia.

Textile knitting is a stimulating and accelerated method of hand crafting using 3-200 strands of fibre simultaneously on outsize tools. Mixing so many strands together gives the opportunity to blend many colours and types of fibre in a creative and painterly way.
